The fuel cell system generates power by combining hydrogen with oxygen from the outside air. Toyota has helped lead the industry in this fuel cell system efficiency, achieving a high power output from a relatively compact system.
All of our hydrogen tanks are produced in-house and specially designed for Mirai. Toyota’s history in the loom-weaving business helped our engineers design the carbon-fiber weaving on our tanks, improving production efficiencies and helping to optimize the weight-to-storage ratio.
The battery allows for regenerative braking and also assists during high-power demands like accelerating — improving total system efficiency and fuel economy. Like the motor, the battery is sourced from proven Toyota hybrid technology.
Designed exclusively for Mirai, standard 17-in. engraved alloy wheels bring the perfect amount of sophistication and style.
Mirai’s sleek lines do more than just look good, they help give this car an ultra-low coefficient of drag. This means that Mirai’s shape helps it slip through the air for a quieter ride and increased efficiency.
The simple push of a button warms up Mirai’s outside power mirrors, helping clear moisture and fog when needed. These mirrors also include a power-folding feature to help minimize this FCV’s footprint when parked.
The future is wireless. That’s why Mirai features standard Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging.35 Just place your Qi-compatible smartphone onto the non-slip surface in the integrated eBin™, and charge up wirelessly.
Settle in and get comfortable. Mirai comes standard with heated SofTex®-trimmed 8-way power-adjustable front seats, making it easy to find the perfect seating position. Rear seat passengers get the VIP treatment, as well—their own heated seat control.
Many of Mirai’s frequently used features can be controlled right from its ergonomically shaped steering wheel. Drivers can take calls, adjust the Multi-Information Display, scroll through playlists and more—all without the need to remove one’s hands from the wheel. And when the weather gets chilly, its built-in heating feature will help keep things comfortable.
Tech that’s as intuitive as it is beautiful. Mirai’s Intelligent Touch controls feature a sleek design and a low, minimalist profile, allowing the driver to fine-tune the audio and climate control systems.
Tech that helps you see what you may not. When parking, sonar sensors on the front and rear of Mirai scan for walls, curbs and other objects that might be hidden from your view. Audio and visual cues are sent to the cabin, helping to take some of the guesswork out of parking.
Pre-Collision5 with Pedestrian Detection43 (PCS w/PD) helps keep the road safe by detecting a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist in certain situations. The latest system has enhanced low-light capabilities to help detect a pedestrian at night. By combining millimeter-wave radar with a camera capable of shape recognition, the system provides an audio/visual alert, warning you of a possible collision with a pedestrian under certain circumstances. If you don’t react, the system is designed for automatic braking48 support to help mitigate the potential for a collision.
Using Road Edge Detection or by detecting visible lane markings, the Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA)7 issues both an audible alert and visual warning on the MID screen if an inadvertent lane departure is detected. If the system determines that the driver is not taking corrective steering action, the Steering Assist function is designed to initiate and provide gentle corrective steering to help keep Mirai in the lane.
Intended for highways and similar to “constant speed” cruise control, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)4 lets you drive at a preset speed. DRCC uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control, which adjusts your speed, to help you maintain a preset distance from vehicles ahead of you that are driving at a slower speed. DRCC uses a front-grille-mounted radar and an in-vehicle camera designed to detect vehicles and their distance. If a driver is traveling slower than you, or within your preset range, DRCC will automatically slow your vehicle down without deactivating cruise control. If DRCC determines you need to slow down more, an audio and visual alert notifies you and brakes are applied. When there’s no longer a vehicle driving slower than your set speed in front of you, DRCC will then accelerate and regular cruise control will resume.
